Orlando Pirates enter race to sign in-form PSL defender

Orlando Pirates enter the race to sign in-form defender ahead for the next transfer window.

Pirates have set their sights on TS Galaxy’s standout left-back, Samukelo Kabini, as they look to strengthen their squad.

According to a reliable source, the Buccaneers are closely monitoring the 20-year-old’s impressive performances and are considering making a move to secure his signature.

Kaizer Chiefs also in the mix

Kabini has also been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, as previously reported in January. Despite the interest, Amakhosi did not make an official approach for the highly-rated defender but they are keeping a close eye on his situation. Now, with Pirates entering the race, the battle for Kabini’s services is heating up.

Pirates look to strengthen after quiet window

Jose Riveiro’s side made no signings in the January transfer window, but they are determined to reinforce their squad for both domestic and continental success. Kabini, a former Pirates development player, has flourished since his move to TS Galaxy in 2023.

With PSL experience under his belt and a stellar season so far, a return to the Soweto giants could be on the horizon.

Kabini’s performances catch attention

Kabini has delivered consistently solid displays throughout the season, but his performance against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns further bolstered his reputation. His defensive strength and attacking contributions at Mbombela Stadium showcased why he is one of the most promising young defenders in the league.

“He (Kabini) is a player that Pirates are monitoring closely and so far, he has impressed. Don’t rule out the possibility of them (Pirates) making an official approach at the end of the season,” a source revealed.

With Pirates aiming for dominance in the Betway Premiership and a deep run in the CAF Champions League. Kabini’s addition could fit perfectly into their long-term vision. The Buccaneers are expected to make significant signings to boost their chances of competing at the highest level. And Kabini has emerged as a key target.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Orlando Pirates’ next moves. Will they secure the services of Kabini and reinforce their squad with top talent?
