The CBS News Prime Time anchor and co-host of Slate’s Political Gabfest launches his very own podcast, Navel Gazing: A journey through the life—and notebooks—of journalist John Dickerson.
John Dickerson, co-host of Slate’s award-winning podcast Political Gabfest and CBS News Prime Time anchor, announces the launch of Navel Gazing, a nine-part limited-series podcast, premiering this Saturday.
Dickerson has been a journalist for more than three decades—reporting about presidential campaigns, political scandals, and the evolving state of our democracy. In Navel Gazing, Dickerson will take his journalistic approach to exploring a new area—himself. The series will offer reflections on life, parenthood, death, friendship, writing, God, to-do lists, dogs, transitions, and more, all recorded in the notebooks Dickerson has carried in his back pocket, dating back to 1993, when he was covering the Bank of Credit and Commerce International scandal as a reporter for Time magazine.
“Every week we’re going to dig through the piles of notebooks that I’ve been collecting and from their entries—sometimes a single entry—we’ll try to sort out what makes a life,” Dickerson explains in the show’s trailer.
The first episode will dive into living room declarations, the Sunday Scaries, conversational bids, and more. It opens with a declaration from his wife, Ann: “Oh my God we dropped our son at college and our dog is dead.”
New episodes of Navel Gazing will air weekly on Saturdays. Listen to the trailer now and subscribe to Slate Plus for ad-free listening. And be sure to follow Navel Gazing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, or wherever you get your podcasts so you never miss an episode.
