News broke on January 4 that Aubrey Plaza’s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died one day earlier at the age of 47. Per medical examiner records viewed by Us Weekly, Baena died by suicide.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Plaza’s rep said in a statement to Us on January 6 on behalf of the actress and her family. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.” (It was revealed on March 19 that Plaza and Baena had been separated for four months at the time of his death.)
Days after Baena’s death, manager Simon Jones shared that RuPaul’s Drag Race star James Lee Williams — better known as The Vivienne — died at age 32.

“James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person,” the publicist shared in an Instagram statement on January 5. “Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James’s family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”
The next day, authorities confirmed that the beloved drag queen’s death had “no suspicious circumstances.” Williams’ family confirmed to BBC News on March 17 that the reality star’s cause of death was cardiac arrest caused by ketamine use.

The Floribama Shore star died at age 33 after a two-week hospital stay for necrotizing pancreatitis, according to costar Aimee Elizabeth Hall.
“We lost our brother, our best friend, our heart — Kirk,” Hall wrote via Facebook on Friday, May 2, per Page Six “I was at the beach when I felt it. Before the call even came, a dolphin kept coming up to me, as if to say goodbye. Kirk and I shared a love for dolphins and the ocean, and in that moment, I just knew.”

Ruth Buzzi
The 1960s comedy star died at age 88 in her Texas home following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Her family announced the death via Buzzi’s official Facebook group.
Buzzi’s death came after she suffered a stroke in 2022. She spent her final years in hospice care.

Jill Sobule
The “I Kissed a Girl” songwriter died in a house fire on May 1. She was 66.
“Jill Sobule was a force of nature and human rights advocate whose music is woven into our culture,” Sobule’s manager John Porter said in a statement. “I was having so much fun working with her. I lost a client & a friend today. I hope her music, memory, & legacy continue to live on and inspire others.”
A memorial service celebrating her life and legacy will be held in the summer.

Jiggly Caliente
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4 queen and Drag Race Philippines judge Jiggly Caliente (real name Bianca Castro) died on April 27 following complications of a severe infection and leg amputation. She was 44.
“A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity,” her family shared in a statement via Instagram. “She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world.”
The statement went on to describe Caliente’s legacy as “one of love, courage, and light.”
“Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever,” the statement said. “She will be deeply missed, always loved, and eternally remembered.”

Lulu Roman
Roman, the brash Hee Haw comedian and gospel singer who delighted fans of the long-running country music variety show, died on April 23 in Bellingham, Washington. She was 78.
Her son, Damon Roman, confirmed the news. No cause of death has been shared.

The Voice Kids alum Karen Silva died after a hemorrhagic stroke at 17. The death of Silva, who competed on the music show in 2020 when she was just 12, was announced via her official Instagram account on April 25.

Lar Park Lincoln
The actress known for her roles in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood and Knots Landing died on April 22. She was 63.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lar Park Lincoln, celebrated actress, founder of Actors Audition Studios and America’s beloved Audition Coach,” her company announced in a statement via Facebook. “Over her 45-year career, Lar left an unforgettable mark on Hollywood through her dynamic performances and dedication to mentoring aspiring actors.”

The legendary NFL player died at age 67 on April 23 after a lengthy battle with ALS. The news was confirmed by sports anchor Jarret Payton.
“With deep sorrow, I share that Steve McMichael passed at 5:28 PM after a brave fight with #ALS, surrounded by loved ones,” Payton wrote via X. “I’m grateful to have been with him in his final moments. Please keep Steve and his family your prayers. 🙏🏽 #Bears.”

Patrick, who spent 36 years as a play-by-play broadcaster for ESPN, died on April 20 at the age of 80. Patrick died of natural causes in his Fairfax, Virginia, home, a local funeral home told ESPN.

Sophie Nyweide
The former child star died at the age of 24, her family confirmed via an online obituary on April 21.
“Sophie. A life ended too soon,” the obituary read. “May it not be in vain. May we all learn from her brief life on earth and do better. Yes, we must all protect our children and do better.”
Between 2006 and 2015, Nyweide had the opportunity to appear in more than 10 movies and TV shows. One of her most memorable roles was portraying Michelle Williams’ on-screen daughter in the 2009 film Mammoth.

Pope Francis
The leader of the Catholic Church since 2013 died at age 88 on April 21, just one day after Easter. The Vatican confirmed in a social media statement that the pope died “at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta” after several months of health struggles. Pope Francis was hospitalized with bronchitis in February, later suffering from double pneumonia and a bronchospasm before resuming public appearances around the Easter holiday.

The British soccer star died on April 17 at the age of 36 after a battle with lymphoma.

The director died Thursday, April 10 from heart failure in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. He was 94.
The Canadian filmmaker directed Sylvester Stallone in the first entry in the Rambo franchise, 1982’s First Blood, and later scored a box office hit with the comedy Weekend at Bernie’s in 1989. He started his career with a string of well-received movies in the 1970s, including the Jane Fonda-starring Fun with Dick and Jane in 1977 and 1979’s sports drama North Dallas Forty. In later years, he worked as a producer and director on Law & Order: SVU.

Nicky Katt
The actor, whose Hollywood career spanned 38 years, died Tuesday, April 8 from undisclosed causes. He was 50.
Katt was best known for playing high school bully Clint Bruno in the 1993 coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused and later starred as teacher Harry Senate for three seasons in the hit Fox drama Boston Public. He portrayed characters as wide-ranging as Adolf Hitler in the 2002 Steven Soderbergh-directed comedy Full Frontal and the Jedi pilot Atton Rand in the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic video game series.

Lucy Markovic
Model Lucy Markovic, who walked runways for the likes of Armani and Versace and competed on Australia’s Next Top Model in 2015, died on April 11 following a battle with a rare brain condition. She was 27.
Markovic had been battling brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a condition where abnormal blood vessels tangle and can lead to bleeding and damage to brain tissue. She had been undergoing multiple surgeries for the condition prior to her death.

Alice Tan Ridley
An obituary published on April 4 revealed that the singer, who is also the mother of actress Gabourey Sidibe, died at age 72 on March 25 in New York City. Her cause of death was not shared at the time.
Ridley, whose singing talents were featured on shows such as 30 Seconds to Fame and America’s Got Talent, is survived by Sidibe and son Ahmed, along with two grandchildren and four siblings.

Ellery Curtis
The former All-American Dartmouth College skier died at age 26 from injuries sustained during an April 5 skiing crash in Lake Tahoe, California. “Our hearts go out to her family and all who loved her as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” Placer County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Elise Soviar said in a statement to multiple outlets.
Curis is survived by her parents, Charles Curtis and Katherine Dolan, and a sister.

Joey D. Vieira
The actor known for his role as Sylvester “Porky” Brockway on Lassie died at age 80 on April 7, one day before his birthday. “I received a call from his daughter Shanyn that he entered hospice a couple days ago,” Vieira’s Lassie costar Jon Provost shared via Facebook on April 8. “I’m met [sic] Joey when I was seven years old, when I started lassie, we hit it off and remain[ed] friends forever. Joey was a great guy, a talented actor and even a successful record producer. Joey has joined his son Beau in heaven.” (Vieira’s son, Beau, died of cancer in 2023. He is survived by his daughter, Shanyn.)

Clem Burke
Blondie announced on April 7 that drummer Burke died at age 70. “It is with profound sadness that we relay news of the passing of our beloved friend and bandmate Clem Burke following a private battle with cancer,” the band announced via Facebook. “Clem was not just a drummer; he was the heartbeat of Blondie. His talent, energy, and passion for music were unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable.”

Dylan Grant
The professional bull rider died on April 3, after suffering injuries at the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event in Wharton, Texas.
“The PRCA would like to send its thoughts and prayers to bull rider Dylan Grant’s family, friends and the entire rodeo/bull riding community after Grant passed away after suffering injuries Thursday night,” the PRCA wrote in a statement. “Grant sustained an injury in the second round at the Wharton County event after being bucked off by a bull in the arena.”
Grant is survived by his parents, Wade and Tiffany.

The Carolina Panthers alum died on April 3 at 54 after a two-year battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in early 2023.

Val Kilmer
The actor best known for his roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever died at the age of 65 from pneumonia, his daughter, Mercedes, confirmed to The New York Times on April 1. Kilmer battled throat cancer and sustained permanent vocal cord damage after undergoing a tracheostomy surgery. He was shown using a breathing tube in the 2021 documentary about his life, Val.
Along with Mercedes Kilmer is survived by his son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Joanne Whalley.

The rapper died on March 28, which was his 39th birthday, after a reported leg injury.

Breaking Amish alum, Mama Mary Schmucker, died on Friday, March 28 following cancer complications, according to TMZ. She was 65. The reality TV star was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022 and moved to a hospice in November 2024 after her health condition worsened.

Berkin Usta
The Turkish Olympian, who competed in the slalom and giant slalom events at the 2022 games, died during a hotel fire on March 28. He was 24.

Larry Tamblyn
The founding member of the band The Standells — who is also the brother of actor Russ Tamblyn and uncle to actress Amber Tamblyn — died at age 82 on March 21. “Sad news to announce tonight. Larry has passed away,” the band wrote via Facebook on March 22. “Feel free to leave your messages. More information will be coming.”
Tamblyn’s cause of death was not revealed at the time. The band paid tribute to the musician in a follow-up Facebook post, writing, “In life, we are given two dates. Our start date and our end date. In the middle there is a dash. Judging from the overwhelming show of love and support to Larry’s memory and that of his family, Larry made the very most of his dash. RIP Boss.”

Boxing champion George Foreman died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, March 21. He was 76. His family confirmed the news the same day, describing him in an Instagram tribute as “a devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather.” They added, “He lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

Jack Lilley
The Little House on the Prairie character actor, who was also a stuntman on various western dramas, died at the age of 91.
“The Little House family has lost one of our own. Jack Lilley has passed away,” former costar Melissa Gilbert wrote via Instagram on March 21. “He also happened to be one of my favorite people on the planet. He taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing. He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, ‘Can we go ride? Please, please, please?’”

The actor, best known for his role in the 1997 film Good Burger, died at age 52 on February 28. Schwieterman’s brother, Chad, confirmed the news in a March 1 Facebook post, writing, “He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed yesterday evening. Mark Dobies
The One Life to Live and Guiding Light alum died at age 65 in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, on March 11. “A loving father, accomplished athlete, and talented actor, Mark lived a life full of passion, perseverance, and love,” a local obituary for the actor read. Dobies’ cause of death was not revealed at the time.

Jesse Colin Young
The founder and lead singer of the Youngbloods died on March 16. Young’s manager confirmed the musician’s death to Rolling Stone. TMZ reported that paramedics responded to a call at Young’s home in South Carolina. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office later confirmed to People that Young died from “complications of cardiac, atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease” and that the manner of death was natural.

Emilie Dequenne
The French actress died of a rare form of cancer on March 16, her agent said. She was 43.
Dequenne announced in October 2023 that she had been diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma, which affects the adrenal gland.
Dequenne won the best actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in 1999’s Rosetta.

Wings Hauser
Hauser died on March 15 at the age of 78. His wife, Cali Lili Hauser, confirmed the news five days later. The Young and the Restless actor is survived by his son, Yellowstone actor Cole Hauser, and daughter, Bright Hauser, from two prior relationships.

A case detail from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner viewed by Us states that the YouTuber, whose real name was Philip Enewally, was found dead in a mail room on March 14. He was 26. Enewally’s mother reportedly confirmed his death to TMZ on March 15, asking that the family’s privacy be respected. Enewally had nearly 4 million YouTube subscribers and was known for his gaming videos — in which he played NBA 2K and Fortnite — as well as vlogs and pranks.

Kiker’s sisters confirmed via Facebook on March 12 that the American Idol season 18 alum died at the age of 32.
“Today, I got the call that no one wants to get. We lost an amazing person today. He had the biggest smile and knew how to make you laugh,” his sister Donna wrote via Facebook. “I know I didn’t raise him, but I never stopped loving him. My parents did an amazing job with him. The Mexican influencer died after a reported car accident on March 10. She was 20.
“Valeria was more than a rodeo queen; she was an ambassador of cowboy culture, an inspiration to many young women,” the Mexican Rodeo Federation wrote in a Facebook statement. “Her smile lit up every arena, and her passion for rodeo was contagious. Although her passing leaves a void, her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the memory of rodeo.”

The K-pop singer was found dead in his home in Seoul on March 10, according to local police. His agency, Tajoy Entertainment, confirmed his death in a statement, saying, “Wheesung has left us. He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced deceased.” Police noted there were no signs of forced entry or foul play and have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service. The star was 43.

Alysha Burney
The YouTube and TikTok star died on March 2 while vacationing in Mexico with family to celebrate her 25th birthday. “I come with great sadness that my little sister Alysha Burney has passed. PLEASE allow our family time to grieve during this time,” her brother Charles Burney wrote via Instagram on March 10. “It is extremely difficult seeing all of the false narratives trying to defame her legacy and we are ready to take legal action for those continuing to spread false information regarding her passing. We know so many people care about her and will share more information soon but just give us some time and please stop harassing the family ❤️ Her legacy will still live on FOREVER!!”
In an interview with Kansas City’s Fox 4, Charles said that Alysha wanted to use her talents behind the camera as well. “Her lifelong goal was to be a writer and a director,” he said. “Another goal she had was to return to Kansas City, open a production studio and help other young creatives from Kansas City get to where she was.”

Fisher-Becker, known for his roles in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Doctor Who, died on Sunday, March 9. He was 63.
The British actor’s husband confirmed Fisher-Becker’s passing via Facebook on Monday, March 10. “Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband,” he wrote. “I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away. I’ll be keeping this account open for a while. I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be posting again. Thank you.”
Fisher-Becker appeared in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as the Hufflepuff house ghost Fat Friar, as well as three episodes of Doctor Who alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor.
“Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing,” his manager Kim Barry said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Maldovar in BBC’s Doctor Who.”
Barry added, “Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious and interested in everyone. My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans.”

The legendary jazz musician died at the age of 84 on March 4 after suffering from a long illness.

Angie Stone
Stone’s publicist, Yvonne Forbes, confirmed to CNN that the Grammy-nominated musician had died in a car crash in the early morning of March 1 after a performance in Montgomery, Alabama. She was 63.
“Angie Stone’s voice and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched,” a statement from Stone’s spokeswoman read, per the outlet. “Details regarding memorial services will be announced by the family in due course.”
Stone was a veteran R&B artist and member of the all-female hip hop trio The Sequence from 1979 to 1985. She embarked on her solo career in the late 1990s and dropped her debut album Black Diamond in 1999.

The Australian snowboarder died at age 38. Trembath’s death was announced on February 28 by his sponsor, Monster Energy. They did not disclose the cause of death.

The New York Dolls founder died on February 28 at the age of 75.
“David Johansen died at home in NYC on Friday afternoon holding hands with his wife Mara Hennessey and daughter Leah, surrounded by music, flowers and love,” a spokesperson for the musician told Rolling Stone in a March 1 statement. “He was 75 years old and died of natural causes after nearly a decade of illness.”
Johansen previously battled stage four cancer and a brain tumor.

Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday, February 26, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Us Weekly.
“On February 26, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park where Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and a dog were found deceased,” the sheriff’s office told Us in a statement.
“Foul play is not suspected as a factor in those deaths at this time, however, [the] exact cause of death has not been determined. This is an active and ongoing investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement continued.

Per the outlet, the actor had been hospitalized for respiratory issues in the weeks leading up to his death.
