The Iconic Hotel Begins Transforming its Guest Rooms and Suites, Expansive Meeting Spaces, Multiple Dining Venues, as well as Recreation Areas.
Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego announces a comprehensive, phased renovation, introducing thoughtful enhancements to one of Southern California’s largest hotels. Embracing the property’s premier coastal location, the renovation will reinforce Manchester Grand Hyatt’s legacy as a defining landmark of Southern California hospitality. Scheduled to begin in early 2025 and executed in phases through Winter 2026, the renovation encompasses all 1,628 guestrooms and suites; more than 320,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space; multiple dining venues including Sally’s and the Top of the Hyatt; as well as recreational spaces including the sports court and two rooftop pool decks.
Accommodations
The guestroom and suite transformation will unfold in two phases, with the Seaport Tower targeting completion in Winter 2025, followed by the Harbor Tower in Summer 2026.Drawing inspiration from classic yacht design, each accommodation will showcase rich wood and subtle blue hues that mirror the neighboring water of San Diego Bay.
Meetings & Events
At the heart of the transformation, the property’s extensive meeting and event spaces will undergo a complete redesign, anchored by the centerpiece Harbor and Seaport Ballrooms, blending sophisticated seaside design with next-generation technology (including enterprise-grade Wi-Fi and integrated audiovisual systems). Pre-function and break-out spaces will evoke ocean waves with custom carpeting and lighting, as newly designed outdoor terraces provide panoramic bay views for both grand receptions and intimate gatherings.
Dining Venues
Refreshed, signature dining venue Sally’s will debut in March 2025. The reimagined open-air, waterfront concept celebrates the vibrancy of San Diego with Baja Med-inspired cuisine from Chef Alvaro Garcia, featuring signatures like grilled octopus, ceviche, fish tacos, and an indulgent seafood tower, complemented by specialty mezcal and tequila cocktails alongside regional wines.Perched on the hotel’s 40th floor, Top of the Hyatt will continue its legacy as one of San Diego’s most sought-after cocktail destinations, closing for renovations in late 2025 and reopening by early 2026. In addition, MARKET | ONE will transform with expanded retail offerings and improved traffic flow, while Seaview Restaurant will refine its breakfast experience with sustainably sourced local and regional specialties.
Recreational Spaces
The property’s recreational spaces will be completely renovated to offer an elevated resort experience, including the two rooftop pool decks overlooking the harbor and city skyline. A full-service adult pool with craft cocktails and engaging programming will debut on the third floor in Winter 2025, followed by a reimagined family pool on the fourth floor in Winter 2026. Enhanced facilities include updated sports courts and a state-of-the-art fitness center by mid-2026.
