Real Madrid will face Manchester City in the playoff round of the UEFA Champions League, it was confirmed in the draw on Friday.
Real Madrid will play the first leg away at the Etihad Stadium on February 11/12, whereas the return leg will be at the Santiago Bernabeu on February 18/19, which gives Real Madrid the home advantage.
This would be the fourth consecutive stadium in which Real Madrid will face the English giants, who although have struggled this season, are still very good on their day.
Real Madrid have beaten Manchester City two times in the last three attempts, most recently winning the penalty shootout at the Etihad to book their place in the semi-finals of last year’s tournament.
The first leg will follow the crucial Madrid derby at the Bernabeu, which has a lot more on the line than in the last couple of years.
It remains to be seen which version of Manchester City show up against Real Madrid, but it will surely be a very intense tie.
