One of Alex Pereira’s former foes weighed in on the viral altercation between the UFC champ and Jamahal Hill at the UFC Performance Institute.
Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill may never be on cordial terms after the two top light heavyweights nearly traded blows during a viral run-in at the UFC Performance Institute. Both sides have their versions of what led up to the near brawl, but a commonality is that cooler heads eventually prevailed as Pereira’s coach separated them.
Pereira isn’t expected to face Hill for his next title defense, as of this writing, but that could change if Hill puts on an impressive showing next month at UFC 311. Hill will face Jiří Procházka in a matchup of two former Pereira rivals.
Pereira isn’t known to get into many altercations outside of the Octagon, but Hill has struck a nerve with the UFC light heavyweight champion. This despite Pereira knocking out Hill in brutal fashion at UFC 300 earlier this year.
The recent scuffle involving Pereira and Hill makes a potential title rematch all the more intriguing. But according to one of Pereira’s Glory Kickboxing foes, Hill is solely in the wrong for how things transpired at the UFC PI.

Dustin Jacoby questions Jamahal Hill for inciting Alex Pereira altercation at the UFC PI
During his UFC Tampa pre-fight press conference, Dustin Jacoby scolded Hill for confronting Pereira after their UFC 300 clash.
“I don’t know why Jamahal would go in there, if I’m him, I just don’t go right up to him,” Jacoby said of Pereira and Hill. “You settled your differences in the Octagon, he had his opportunity, and he’ll probably get another opportunity if he continues to do well.
“But Pereira, he’s just a gamer guy where it’s like ‘If you want to talk, here’s the gloves and we’ll go in here’. That’s a dangerous move too, man, Pereira is obviously one of the best to do it, one of the best strikers there’s ever been in the UFC with amazing power,” Jacoby continued. “So if that fight happens again, I could see Pereira doing the same thing with the same outcome.”
Jacoby knows a thing or two about Pereira’s power and the consequences of irking the light heavyweight superstar. During their Glory Kickboxing tenures, Pereira earned one of the most vicious knockouts of his fighting career when he flattened Jacoby in his Glory debut at Glory 14.
Jacoby and Pereira are now in the same division in MMA, but a potential MMA rematch is still a way off. Jacoby returns to the cage this weekend at UFC Tampa against Vitor Petrino.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill 2 is a possible 2025 fight booking
Pereira most recently defended his UFC light heavyweight title by finishing Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. Next, he’s likely set to face the surging Magomed Ankalaev for his next title defense, although that could change if Hill puts on a shocking showing next month.
As of this writing, the UFC hasn’t announced nor booked Pereira’s return to the Octagon for 2025. A potential super fight against Jon Jones is also on Pereira’s radar if Jones can get past Tom Aspinall.
Hill was supposed to return at UFC 303 against Rountree before suffering an injury leading up to the event. His upcoming return at UFC 311 is his first fight since the Pereira knockout defeat.
The recent UFC PI incident could potentially be part of a pre-fight buildup for a Pereira vs. Hill rematch in 2025. For now, tensions remain thick between the two sides as they prepare for their upcoming bouts.
